Prerequisite Requirements

We meet you where you are, but require a foundational understanding of midwifery to ensure your success in our rigorous curriculum.

  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Documented completion of a foundational midwifery course (such as Heart & Hands or equivalent basic training).

Your Clinical Experience

The heart of community midwifery training is the apprenticeship. Students are responsible for securing their own local preceptor.

  • Meets requirements of North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential.
  • Meets licensing requirements for the California Midwifery Practice Act.
  • Includes fully mapped beginning, intermediate, and advanced clinical practica.
