The day has finally come!!! I’m ready for a student. Are you looking for a fun preceptor that remembers what it is like to be a student? My years as a student midwife will always bring fond memories and many lessons about how to be a midwife and how to be a preceptor. I am practicing in Redding California where you can find many opportunities for housing with local college students. Time off-call can be spent in the beauty of Northern California. MCU preceptor registration and NARM preceptor registration have been applied for. If you have needs for approval for another school we can work that out. I serve approximately three clients per month and take time off call three times per year. Message me for an interview. (Yes, that was my “first catch,” see, I told you I know how to have fun!)

Premier Birth Center, Chantilly & Winchester, VA

Premier Birth Center, Chantilly & Winchester, VA

We're starting to accept students again at Premier Birth Center in Northern Virginia. Between the two birth centers, we're helping about 300 families per year, so students will get a lot of experience at Premier! We prefer long-term students, but will sometimes consider short-term placement. If you or someone you know would be interested in learning here, please send them our way! We have NARM Registered Preceptors at both locations. We're also adding 2 CNMs to our team (1 at each location), as well, so if you know someone who might be interested in working with us, please ask them to contact me or go to our website!

Student Midwife Application Form

Midwife Job Opening (attn: recent grads) with Long Beach Birth Center

Midwife Job Opening (attn: recent grads):

California. With Long Beach Birth Center.

I am a midwifery student and coordinator at Long Beach Birth Center in Southern California. I'm reaching out with somewhat of an SOS on behalf of our practice. Our director has been reaching out to look for an LM or CNM to start ASAP without luck, so I'm jumping in to help with the search and I thought I would reach out to NMI.
We are short right now, with 2 of our midwives leaving by the end of July. We hope to have someone trained and ready to work full time by then, but will likely be accepting applications past July.
Our practice is somewhat new (long-standing but now under new ownership with lots of changes), and there's so much potential here. We are looking for someone who has the heart for out-of-hospital birthing and the motivation to commit and help us continue to build something great.
We are hoping there's a midwife out there who's maybe looking for a new start in the LA/OC area and wants to work with a group serving this community in the birth center and homebirth setting.

Virginia Midwife Position

To link students with opportunities for advancing clinical learning, the National Midwifery Institute lists options as they become known. Michigan Apprenticeship with Patrice Bobier

Michigan. Full Circle Midwifery Services with Patrice Bobier

I’m a Licensed Midwife with a long-time practice in Michigan. I think I’m current with NMI a preceptor.   I’ve trained 5 PEP students, 4 are now licensed, and 1 quit completely about 9 years ago.  I’ve helped train 3 other students from SWTC, PEP, and National Midwifery Institute.
About me:  I am 70 years old in years, about 50 in my mind :-), married, open-minded, spiritual but no religious affiliation, politically liberal, fiscally conservative.  I’m a forever Hippie (went to the first Woodstock when I was 17). We have a 415 acre farm and raise organic grass fed beef.  We have always fed ourselves out of our front yard, canning and freezing for winter.
I went to my first home birth in 1977, and soon was traveling 150 miles round trip to  train with the closest midwives.  Have had my own practice since June of 1982.  I’ve attended about 1860 births all together.  Loads of experience ~~ always growing and learning more and trying to be better at it all.  I’ve always worked part time in addition to midwifery work.
Negotiable:  I prefer to only work with students who are compatible in lifestyle.   I also prefer to work only with others who have had the covid vaccines.  I have a lot of older and medically fragile friends. No, I still don’t support the mass vaccination of babies and children!

Birthlocal California Apprenticeship Opportunities

Birthlocal (CA) IG @birthlocal (https://www.birthlocal.com/) recently shared: “8 year practicing solo midwife, highly imperfect yet trying to be a good human, seeks committed, smart mature student for apprenticeship. Apprenticeship begins with a 3 month trial period, and, if mutually agreeable, would then be the start of a 3 year commitment to training to qualify as a Licensed midwife. Independent Community Midwives are a special calling requiring crazy hours and a lot of critical AND compassionate thinking so this must be taken into consideration before applying.

Ideal candidate must be able to commit to 12 hours a week in clinic, 12 hours a week doing admin, and 12 hours a week in births (average but varies a ton) in addition to your own school, family, or other work. Clinic takes place in Carlsbad, CA, and in North Park, San Diego. Pay begins once you are capable of handling admin or birth assisting as needed, respectively.

Candidates must be enrolled in a qualified MEAC accredited program to apply.
